guess what?? It's doing it again. Still nothing on there except for windows files. I'm getting explorer errors, systray errors on top of the old errors. It's also putting that swap file back every time I do a shutdown.

A few ideas.

Should I turn of the reg check in startup?
Should I just uninstall all updates?
Should I just create a bat file that fixes the reg on startup? heh
Should I bite the bullet and pay M$ for support?

any ideas?

I may just go ahead and dban the sucker and re-re-re-re install windows

still doing it. I'm getting really tired of this crap. When the BSOD does show up I'm getting "A fatal exception 06 hass occured at C000:0000FCB2

I only installed the critical updates and the directx 9.0 updates this time. It was fine until I shutdown and rebooted. I know this thread is tiresome.. but please help me out :tazz:

edit: according to M$ the fatal exception occurs when a problem with Mcafee or Norton happens.. well there's no A/V on the computer.. ARRGH!!!

http://support.micro...om/?kbid=190123

which is the m$ kb that you found says that you need to edit the autoexec file to make sure that neither norton or mcaffee are in there...have you done that?

No I didn't because neither is on there. I'll check it though. I did go into the system.ini and edit the boot section with the driver=mmsystem code. So now I'm just getting the registry errors again. I just don't get it. I hate to call M$ because they charge so much for support now. *sigh*

edit: i went into the autoexec.bat file and only thing in there was the essolo which is for the sound. No other listings

yes...and check your ram

http://www.memtest86.com/ download that and make a floppy to test the ram...if you have more than one stick in the machne...take all but one out...run the test (for a decent amount of time...usually HOURS)..then take that stick out...and test the next stick in that same slot..do that untill you've tested all your ram
