Hi-

MY Dell laptop inspiron 3700 (older--from around 2001) takes forever to boot up (and then nothing will run because it's still booting up) and after the "Dell" opening page, gives the message that there was a "memory read/write failure" 04000060 and that it expected to find memory "00EF00EF" and instead found "00EF00EE."

It does work fine in Safe mode.

thanks.

It sounds like you could have a memory problem. You could try memtest (http://www.memtest86.com) to test the memory.

It uses a floppy or CD. It is best to run it this way since it allow better access to the memory.
