I am having trouble getting Access 97 on an xp pro machine. After installation, The microsoft access icon does not appear, and all I get is a white box. When I click on the the program, I get a message that msaccess.exe can not be found.

I have successfully installed Access 97 on other office computers...using the hatten.ttf renaming method. This does not seem to be the problem with this machine. I did have access 97 installed, but it would only run from the cd. I have tried the following.

1) The hatten.ttf renaming (worked on other machines)

2) Uninstalling Office xp and then attempting to install access 97

3) Uninstalling sas and then attempting to install access 97.

I am thinking that it may have to do with the office 97 uninstall program not completely deleting all files during uninstallation...but then again I do not know much about computers.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.
