I keep getting this annoying prompt

Not sure if this is it, but go to Tools>Internet Options and click the Security tab. Select Internet if not already highlighted and click Custom Level button. Scroll all the way to bottom under User Authorization and see if "Prompt for user name and password" has been checked. Uncheck and see if this does the trick.
