I have recently started having the same problem as it seems many members are of the Dr Watson Postmortem Debugger keeping me from My computer, Control Panel, and anything that would open up its own explorer window. Below I've attached my Hijack this log. If someone could please tell me what is causing the problem I'd really appreciate it!

Hi italiano_b

You are using an outdated version HijackThis

Please download the most recent version from here http://www.geekstogo...action=cat&id=3

The log that you did post was incomplete. You need to post the entire log so it includes all the entries up to O23.

When the log opens in Notepad - go to Edit > Select All
Then Edit > Copy.
Then Paste into this thread so someone can help you.

Ilago thanks for the advice....I did what you said and here is the new logfile. It seems like everytime I try to access anything like my computer or control panel it freezes the whole computer. well if someone could tell me if there is anything wrong with my log that would be great :tazz:

Hi Italiano_b

Sorry for the delay. Please disable System Restore. Right click the My Computer icon on the Desktop and go to Properties > System Restore tab. Put a tick in the "Turn off system restore on all drives". Click Apply then OK.

Please go to Control Panel Add/Remove Programs and Uninstall
Yahoo Companion
Broadjump client foundation - if it is listed

There seem to be some problems associated with Yahoo Companion sometimes. Yahoo Messenger on its own doesn't seem to have the same problems. The Dr Watson problem is associated with malware that was already on a computer when SP2 was installed. You don't have any serious infection but a lot of small things.

You may need to print this out or copy and paste into a Notepad file so you can keep track of the deletions when you are working in Safe Mode and not connected to the internet.

Open HijackThis and click on Do System Scan Only. When the scan is complete check all the following items. Then disconnect from the internet and close all open windows including this browser window and all instant messaging - Yahoo messenger, MSN messenger, ICQ and anything else that is not essential and click on Fix checked.

Reboot into Safe Mode by continually tapping the F8 key as soon as the computer starts to boot up - after the beep. When the Windows XP Safe Mode menu comes up - Choose Safe Mode. You don't need any networking.

Open Windows Explorer and go to > Tools> Folder Options> View, select:*Show hidden files and folders
*Display the contents of system folders
Uncheck:*Hide protected operating system files
Delete all the files and folders noted in bold below. Some may not be there but use the search function in Windows Explorer to make sure.

C:\WINDOWS\ webdir.dll
C:\Program Files\ BroadJump\Client Foundation\CFD.exe - delete entire folder

Reboot into normal mode.

Do an online anti virus scan here - you can use Firefox for this scan as it doesn't use ActiveX

Reboot if required to. Then run a new hijackThis log and post it. Please let us know if you are still having Dr Watson problems.
