im looking for a good-sized external hard drive. maybe about 250gb? anyone tell me what kind of things you have to look out for? is one 250gb harddrive as good as the next?

in general..i would suggest finding an external harddrive that has it's own power supply...not one that's powered by the USB connection...the one's that are usb powered...tend to cause problems

I agree with the suggestion to get a drive with its own power supply.

Also, I prefer to get a separate case and drive rather than get a unit already put together. It tends to be cheaper that way and then you also know what kind of disk is installed.
