Intermittent sound on Acer aspire

I never know when the sound on my Acer Aspire with Realtek AC 97 audio will work. I sometimes tools down on the computer with the sound not working and when I turned it on again the sound was working again. I have tried reinstalling the sound driver but it does not work. I am lost.

Acer Aspire with Realtek AC 97 Audio Problem

Need more information 0n your PC -

1st - Download FREE – [Home Edition] of [Everest]

Run [EVEREST] & do the following steps to obtain 3 [REPORTS] – from these – will be able to give suggestions -

Report-1:

1 – EXPAND – [COMPUTER] Folder
2 – Click on [SUMMARY] Folder
3 – On Main Menu – Click on [REPORT] >On pop down menu – Highlight [Quick Report-Summary] >Click on [HTML]
4 – Save to File as [Jimmy-CPU-1] & attach to POST

Report –2:

1 –EXPAND – [MOTHERBOARD] Folder
2 – Click on [MOTHERBOARD] Folder
3 – Click [REPORT] >[Quick Report-Motherboard] > [HTML]
4 – Save to File as [Jimmy-Mobo-1] & attach to POST

Report –3 :

1 – EXPAND – [DEVICES] Folder
2 – Click on [DEVICES] Folder
3 – Click [REPORT]>[Quick Report-Devices]> [HTML]
4 – Save as File [Jimmy-Devices-1] & attach to Post

NOTE – Use the [Attachment] Feature – when Posting – Do not [CUT & PASTE] into Post – These Reports are HUGE – [>20 pages] – They will be truncated – ATTACH only HTML Reports -

2nd – Check your BIOS Settings – [Integrated Peripherals] Section That the –
{Onboard AC97 Audio Controller] is set to [AUTO]

3rd – Might try to [Update] your Audio Driver – at
http://www.realtek.c...8&Software=True

I cannot attach the reports to this. Thanks to Jack 123 for trying to help me to solve my problem.

Add Attachment to Post -
16th Dec 2005

1-Click On Add a Reply
2-Scroll down to bottom of of [Reply Window] to [File Attachments]
3-Click [Browse] and then locate the [Everest Report Files] -[ON your PC]
4-Click on The [Everest Report] file - it should now appear in [File Attachment] Window
5-Click on [Add Attachment] Button
6-Wait until it is added
7-Click [Add to Post] Button - Wait until this is done -[Repeat steps 3 thru 7] for the 3 reports
8-Click [Add Reply] Button to send -
