Hi, I just bought this HP DV8000 laptop computer, and everything was working awesome for the first 3 weeks. However, over the last week this computer has begun to act very stangly, and I can't figure it out for the life of me. I'm running Windows XP Home sp2, I'm about to upgrade to XP Pro. I have norton internet security 2005 installed, and I'm using this firewall instead of windows. The problem I'm having is this computer will freeze, I can still move my mouse, but my desktop becomes disabled (can't click), I can click on the start up menu, but I'm unable to click anything inside it, and my shut down option disappears, and my log off button is the only option. I'm unable to turn off the computer when this happens, unless I hold down the power button. It might help to note that I have a microsoft wireless mouse connected, but I cant click with scroll pad either. I've ran your spyware/malware/trojan programs as well as norton, and have found nothing. I have reinstalled Windows, Installed all the XP updates, installed microsoft anti-spyware beta, have ran chkdsk multiple times, all with no luck. I'm contemplating a full reformat, but I would like to avoid this if possible. Also to note, I have received the message that "norton has encoured an internal error please reinstall norton." I have uninstalled and reinstalled norton and received this message again, but it only pops up when the system stalls, and the system has stalled w/o this error popping up. Does anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong? Here is my hijackthis log, just incase that helps.
