Hi have just installed new floppy drive. System asking me to ' Insert disk in drive ' disk already in drive, but it will not read it. This is the second floppy drive, I've installed, cables are in correctly, as far as I can see, but not reading disks. HELP PLEASE. :tazz:

a floppy drive cable can only be connected one way...pin one on the drive needs to connect to the ribbon with the red wire side and the same applies to the motherboard, which also has a 1 pin.

Getting this reversed will often kill the drive, so the first question is--how do you know you have it cabled directly?

Second, are you sure the floppy is OK. Floppy disks have a short life span and you're lucky if they last a couple months these days....
