basically what i think is going on is that your modem/router (the dlink)...is either not getting an ip address from your connection...or...it's already got a static ip that's..well wrong...you need to find out how the dlink is getting it's ip address (not how it's assigning them)...it should be acquiring its address from your isp...unless they assigned you a static when you got the original modem...you may need to call dlink to find out how to veryfy this info..and change it..you will also need to talk to the isp to verify your ip and connection info

well...your router/modem...has 2 interfaces..well..it's got more...but let's call it two...there's an inside interface (your wirless interface and the ethernet ports on the router) and an outside interface (the interface that connects to the wall)..that outside interface is what you want to change...as far as your device is concerned...i have no idea what you need to change...that's where dlink support will come in handy

Hello tht,

Whilst you're connected (wirelessly), can you please run the following tests:

Step 1
Goto Start, Run, type CMD and press 'OK' - now type: IPCONFIG /ALL - please copy and paste the results by right-clicking on the Command Prompt window, selecting 'Select All', and then pressing Ctrl+C. Please paste the results here.

Step 2
Goto Start, Run, type CMD and press 'OK' - now type: Tracert Yahoo.com - please post the results.

Step 3
Goto Start, Run, type CMD and press 'OK' - now type: netstat -rn - please post the results.

Step 4
Goto Start, Run, type: NETSH DIAG GUI - press 'OK'. A Command Prompt window will open temporarily; don't touch it, it will disappear in a moment. A Microsoft Help and Support window will then open; select the option 'Scan your system'. Wait for the scan to finish and then scroll down to the heading 'Modems and Network Adapters'. Look at 'Network Adapters' (don't expand it yet). Beside your connection information, you should see a green 'PASSED'; if you do not (if you see a red 'FAILED') then expand 'Network Adapters', scroll down the list until you see the heading with the 'FAILED', expand that option and copy and paste the results here.

Thanks.
