Here is the deal i have a HP XE783, i had two memory sticks in it since i got it, one 124 mb and one 64 mb. I took them out and put in a 256mb and no matter which one you put in the second dimm slot it wont go over 256 mb when you boot the system up. Any suggestions?

Some H-P puters let you disable slots on the motherboard. Get into the bios and see if the second memory slot is disabled. This computer should be able to see 512 mb of memory. Are all the memory sticks the same type? H-P do not like mixing PC100 and PC133 memory sticks, especially if the 256 stick in the first slot is PC133 and the others are PC100.
