Hey Guys,
First time poster :).
Im trying to install Need for Speed Most Wanted, but im having issues when it actually goes to install. It says I need Directx 9.0c but, the thing is, I have it...
Even when I go to the 'Support' option on Need For Speed it says that my computer has it, but when it comes time to install it doesnt work :tazz:
Very [bleep] confused lol.
Now I have talked to a mate and he said he had the same issue but it worked, but he cannot remember what he did, if anything to fix it.
So hopefully you guys can help :)
Cheers,
Blink - Matt

By the way, I have re-installed Directx 9.0c several times now from several different locations but stilll no help.

most games offer the install for dx9 at the end of the game.

have never install the game. maybe you could post a screen shot?

also you can run dxdiag from Start/run to see whats up with your dx9.c

i believe it says you need to install it(directx) to install the game otherwise it cancels your nfs install. you can go ahead and click o.k to install DX. if you have DX installed to a newer version than what nfs is trying to install your DX will remain unchanged.

all games, that use dx, will always come with a dx install for it.

It actually comes up with
'You need Directx9.c to run the game, download it here www.mirosoft.com/downloads/divx.'
But ive followed the link several times and to no avail.
It only has one option aswell 'Ok' if you click it, the installation just close's.

If the installation of Need For Speed: Most Wanted prompts you to install DirectX 9.0c and it's already installed on your system, choosing to cancel will stop the installation. Continuing with the installation of DirectX 9.0c will proceed with the installation, but after a reboot, you will be prompted to install again.

To get around this cycle, follow these steps if you are using Windows XP:

1.
With CD 1 in the disk drive, open My Computer.
2.
Right-click your CD drive and choose Explore.
3.
Right-click Autorun.exe and choose Properties.
4.
Select the Compatibility tab.
5.
Click once in the box next to Run this program in compatibility mode for:
6.
Select Windows 2000 from the drop down menu.
7.
Apply changes.

Once you have set Autorun.exe to run in Windows 2000 mode, double-click Autorun.exe and the installation will start. Follow the instructions given and the game will install properly.

Try runnig the installation and after installing directx 9 it asks you to restart and when it does don't restart and instead restart the intallation and it should not ask you again. This worked for Need For Speed Underground 2.
