Can't download? Past few days I can't download anything,including updates for viru

:tazz: For some reason I am unable to download critical updates from Windows, Mcaffee virus scan updates, yahoo, or anything. I get no error messages. Not sure what is going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have Windows XP on a Dell Dimension 8300. Verizon Online DSL

when you go to a site to download something....is there a little yellow bar that pops up underneath the address bar in internet explorer?

Just tried to download from microsoft a few minutes ago, just get message saying downloads were not successful.
