Look at Abit, Msi, gigabyte or dfi for a motherboard.

I would go for the 7800 gtx it is noticably faster.

For memory look at the corsair xms series ram. They are great.

A good sound card is the creative sound blaster xtreme music for around $109 at newegg.com

Good dvd burners are sony or plextor.

The logitech z5500 surround sound system owns, I have one. It pounds. :tazz:

ABIT KN8 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard

they have a sli motherboard for a few more dollars if you want sli.

CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB)

eVGA Geforce 7800GTX

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130248

if you want to spend about $50 more you can get a 7800 gtx overclocked from the factory.

Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 550W Power Supply

Just that stuff came out to be $1648.97 at the time I posted.

You will need to pick out a case and then get a windows xp full operating system. Thats it.

by the way the logitech z5500 sound system is around $220 at newegg right now.

Dont buy them from bestbuy or anything because they sell them for around $409...

An upgraded cpu fan and heatsink wouldnt hurt for the processor.

That one is fine and it is already overclocked so I would not touch overclocking it any more.

They came out with a new driver not long ago its suppost to be fixed. Its actually an updated firmware. All the new x-fi's are suppost to be fixed if not you can tell newegg and ship back.

I have a question.

Im buying the NZXT Lexa case and it comes with a PSU. its 500W and has dual rails for a total of 33A. Do you think I should give it a try?

Can you post a link to that psu/case, I would like to have a look, in general when the psu comes with the case unless its a Antec its not very good, its tempting to use but I dunno.

I once got a 600w with a case, it was junk voltages were all over the place so I mostly discard them.

Could not find any reviews on the psu, it does appear to be decent and one retailer sells it for $68.00 so it ain't cheap.

Its hard to say when you can't read reviews and have not used the product.

I would bench test it with minimal components and get into bios and monitor the voltages, if they are stable and not all over the place then it should be alright.

Another thing to look for is its wieght if its heavy say 5 pounds then in general its a pretty good one if its light wieght 2 pounds then toss it and get something better.

The two 12 volt rails do seem kinda low for a 500Watt power supply for an amd dual core system.

I would just try out the power supply and see how it does. Its not a cheap looking power supply at all.
