SD Card Reader in Dell Inspiron 6000

I bought a Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop and tried to read SD Card but that doesn't seem to work. When I insert an SD Card it doesn't do anything. No indication that card has been inserted into slot. I have Windows XP with SP2.

Can someone please advise.

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. Does the card reader show up in device manager, and is it working properly? Are you able to read the card in another computer? You will want to determine if the problem is your reader, or the card.
