Hey for the past month i havn't been able to update anything from the microsoft upadte site and just recently i have been prevented to update from Norton. I know there hasn't been any critcal updates lately but when they come i would like to be able to update my computer. This is a very weird thing to happen, never heard of it. Anyone have any idea's what might be causing someting like this to happen?
Anything suggestions would be greatly apreciated, this is driving me crazy!

it doesn't give an error from what i can see. Had they done so i would have posted it. However it just tell me that they where unsuccessful and has been that way for about a month now and its driving me crazy!!! Here i ave attached what i see when it happends.

i have just performed a malware scan and have found cmdservice do you think that this may be causing the problem between my computer and windowsupdate? if so i will proced to the malware forum area with my problem. thanx

I don't know about that specific malware, but definitely get cleaned up, and then return here if the problem persists

ok i got that all fixed up and still seem to be having the problem *pulls hair out*! everything is ligit, and i can update other programmes such as spybot and ewido, however the two most important ones, Norton and Windows update will not update. What could be wrong?!

dd you install any kind of security software aboput the time this started occuring?

not that i recal however i may have installed ewido around that time, but i'm not sure could this have caused any interferrence? thats the only thing that i ahve put on my computer recently

Sometimes, ISPs use transparent proxy servers.....

Norton Internet Security (if you have that) uses a proxy server, too

In IE, go to TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > CONNECTIONS.

Are you on dialup? Choose your connection and click SETTINGS, then see if USE A PROXY SERVER is checked.

just thought of it, at the beginning pof the month i switched from DSL to cable. Could this have caused anything to quit functioning? Also i removed my router when this happened and never got back to reconnecting it. And to awnser your last question no it isn't checked.

I am having the same problem on a friends computer...i believe the problem is in activex controls. Go to Options in IE and into Settings then View Objects. I have an error in one of the AX controls and in the description is shows an error in the muweb.dll file. I am going to try reinstalling SP2, if that does not work I am going to see if I can copy the muweb file from another computer then update my activex. I will let you know how it works....i am curious to see if you have the same error with the activex control. Also, I am having problems with McAfee VS, so I am wondering if this prob is related to virus scn programs.
