I figure that since I'm upgrading to run graphics at the higher end I should probably update my GFX card. I found 2 offers the first being:

ATI Radeon 9800 XT 256MB for £116.99

ebay.co.uk number - 8740009312

I was happy with this until I found this offer:

X700 256MB ATI RADEON DVI TV OUT AGP 8X for £78.95

ebay.co.uk number - 8740108203

The seller advertised it "beats 9800 9600". Is this true is the cheaper of the two in fact the more powerful? Considering that I'd like to invest in one now that'll last me a couple of years minimum. What's your advice?

Thanks

My current specs:

Gigabyte GA-81PE1000 P4 HT Motherboard Rev 2.0
Pentium 4 3.0 GHz
512 DDR 400 PC3200 (+2 extra gig soon)
Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 128mb

The 9800 XT is faster than the x700.

The 9800 xt is 23.3 GB/s "gigabytes per second" on the memory bandwith.

The x700 is only 9.6 GB/s.

They both have 8 pipelines.

You have to watch ebay. The sellers sometimes dont know jack.
