I have a hard drive that doesn't fully recognize so that is bad for me since i want to be able to use the whole thing. I KNOW it is a BIOS problems but i cannot find updates for the chip at all. I have searched the internet for answeres but couldn't find any. So i have a list the who what when where how of my bios and everything so that maybe you could find an update for me or that you might already know one.

Sorry it took a very long time to reply, my hard drive is an IDE hard drive, i believe that it is a slave, i might be wrong. It is a bios problem because it is an award modular bios v4.51. My motherboard is a AOpen AP65. What i mean by not fully reconized is that i have a 60 gb hard drive and it'll only show 8 gb of it. Another problem with it is that the fact is that it is a refurbished model. I think it used to be a seagate or something, but now i don't know. they were ever so kind to remove all of the original stickers off so now i am completely stuck with what i trying to do.

Do they offer just bios flashing, or do I have to buy the stinkin' bios chip? If i have to buy it, do you know any great sites for finding the right upgrade for my compter?

Flashing your BIOS is updating it, sometimes it can be a piece of cake and other times.... :mad:

You can read this tutorial about what is involved in flashing your Award BIOS, complete a search on Google should provide you with the newer BIOS.

I should also quickly add that you might not be able to flash your BIOS chip, the only way to really know is if you can give us info from the Motherboard, make and model # preferred...

My motherboard is a AOpen AP65. And athe ID on it is on my first post under BIOS ID.

Follow the link to get the BIOS v. 1.40, do some reading on the site to see if flashing your BIOS is needed, maybe a jumper setting, I quickly scanned the manual but did not see anything. Flashing the BIOS is not something that should be done lightly.....

About the BIOS....... .......I deep fried it a night ago. Do you think I should just upgrade my whole computer considering its age, or do you think I should just pop in a new BIOS chip? Also since I did this to my computer, does it also ruin everthing else including the BIOS?
