Logitech quick cam with windows xp

I recently bought a computer with xp on it and windows detects i have a cam when i plug it into the usb port but it wont allow me to install the software that goes with it.. as a matter of fact , xp wont let me run my printer or scanner either (they are parallel port hardware) I am hoping someone can help me before i scream and reformat back to '98
