Hi manonamission! Welcome to G2G!

Have you tried doing a System Restore to a time before this happened?

Go to START-->RUN and type sfc /scannow, noting the space between sfc and /scannow. This will run a check of your operating system files and replace any that are missing and/or corrupt. You will need your Windows XP cd if it finds any that are missing/corrupt. Once the blue bar goes away, reboot your computer.
