Hi ive bought a Samsung CDRW/DVD SM-352F and connected it up and installed it. It doesnt show up in My Computer and when I inserted a disk it doesnt run. Also i tried to run E:\ in run (assuming this is the new drive name). However according to Add Harware the device is runing corretly and it shows up in Device Manager under DVD/CD ROM drives (my first one appears under Disk Drives) with no exclamation marks etc. Ive applyed Disk Detector to it but it still doesnt auto run. I have a Dell Dimension 4600. Im not sure what else to do can anyone help, please?

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. Check the jumper settings on the drive. Does this drive share an EIDE channel with another drive? The flat ribbon cable (EIDE cable) has two connectors, one for "master" and one for "slave". There is a small jumper on the back of the drive that makes this selection. The documentation from Samsung will give details. This information may be printed on the drive itself.
