My computer appears to have been hijacked... Dont know what to do :(

Hi all,

I think that my computer has been hijacked by some sort of virus. I am unable to 'Search' Windows for anything and even if i'm on a webpage, i cannot 'Find' anything either.

If i press Ctrl & F, the Find box comes up but the 'Find Next' box is shaded out.

If i click start and go to 'Search', A window will open up but there will be no text to tell me that it is the search and the only thing i can see is the search dog, the 'search' and 'folders' tabs and the menus (most of which i can't do anything with)

I have recently done a virus scan with Ad-Aware which detected a number of TAC 10 rated files but i've gotten rid of these. Could this be related in some way? Is there something I did or didn't do?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
