hi all

:) :woot: :P

happy new year :tazz:

this is our 1st post so please excuse any mistakes!

we have a serious problem with the following and before we start posting in hijack section (dont want to waste anyones time if its simple!) we thought we would outline here...

sys: vaio vgc-v2m running xp home sp2 3.0ghz 512mb

apps: spybot 1.4 / trojan hunter / ewido / spyware doctor / freeregistryfix / ccleaner (the nuts!) / avast antivirus (takes ages with this lot for a boot even when it was working!) :)

*******

the problem...after running everything in order as discribed in the "before you post hijack log file" to the letter...it found many dirty scumy malwares, trojans and other stuff (so thanks already).

the system WILL NOT boot in safe mode, in fact any other mode than normal will not work !!!!

there is a blue screen shortly after pressing F8 to force safe mode that appears BEFORE the xp system gets a chance to go to safe mode the blue screen has some writting, but only appears for 2 secs, we think it says something to do with "error in system" but really cant read it as too fast....

PLEASE advise if there is a simple way to get safe mode boot or fix this...or should we post reports?

thank you all for a prompt response!!!

great forums by the way and no bulls*it like some others !!!! :)

Hi and Happy New Year to you too! The malware removal guide is an excellent resource and I am glad it helped you. Did you try one of the on line virus/trojan scans, like housecall at www.trendmicro.com? It would be a good final check before you consider the next one that I suggest.

You could try a repair install. See the guide at http://www.geekstogo...ws-XP-t138.html

Humm...DIABLO keys. That is malware. You have done an excellent job and done about all you can. It is time to call on our experts over in the Malware forum. When the trendmicro houscall scan is done, clean what if finds and then post a hijack this log in the malware forum at
http://www.geekstogo...o-Here-f37.html

Be sure to mention that you have completed the malware removal guide, and now need expert assistance. Be patient. They will get to you. :tazz:

we are running trendmicro now...what is spooky is that while running the housecall sevice avast! our installed antivirus has popped up with the following...

31/12/2005 01:24:05 MURAD 1828 Sign of "Win32:Spyware-gen. [Trj]" has been found in "C:\DOCUME~1\MURAD\LOCALS~1\Temp\V188FHa03196" file.

it's not unusual for that to happen since Avast is memory resident....as Trend scans, it has to read the files, and as it reads, Avast will kick up a warning.

How is it going?
