Ill start at what i have
Asus A8n-Sli premium
Amd anthon 64 3700+
corsair 2-vs512mb400
radeon 9250 PCI
maxtor 300gb 16mb cache
450watt power supply 20pin

in case i got no video- Post recording=system failed vga test
took it to stores to get advice and they told me to barebone it.

1 day i decided to do so and it powered right up with everything connected like in case.
My dad and i put non conductive washers on the brass stand offs otta case.
put it all back in..system failed vga test.
so i decided trying itg without the back plate for all ur ports on mobo.
nothing.
with cardboard under the mobo and everything in same places it works.
poped holes in the cardboard and screwed it in. nothing. ordered a new mobo and tryed that. nothing
both mobos worked outside of case. any idea's?
Id appreciate it

Hi,

When the board is out of the case how are you powering it on?

Make sure all the connections from the front panel are correct ie: power switch, reset sw, ect.

When its in the case disconnect the front usb and front speaker connections.

I am thing that its not a case short but something you are connecting after you put it in the case.

Yes thats possible, you should use a adapter but that don't explain why it will work outside the case

Another thought, don't connect any drives or cards except video when in the case and see if you have video

If it was a bios problem, outside the case would have no effect

its good that windows is installed shows there is no problem with hardware.

install back in the case double check the standoffs are in the correct place.

Don't tighten down on the mounting screws to tight

Do not connect anything, no drives, no cards, nothing connected to the front header like the power switch or reset sw or speaker, nothing at all.

To start the computer use a screw driver and very carefully touch the 2 pins that the front switch connect to.

Do you have video now?

Ok I'll check in tomarrow, another thought, don't have any case fans pluged into the motherboard.

THIS DOES not mean the cpu fan of course. THE CPU FAN must be pluged in

Did not work unfortinitly. even pulled the power supply out of the case so it has no metal contact.
