Hey

Please someone help me! This virus or whatever it is keeps freezing my windows folders. Its preventing me using some folders where I have important files stored. Please someone help me remove this ASAP. Also if you could recommend the best virus program. I currently use Norton Antivirus 2005 which obviously didnt stop this!

Please help.

Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.

Frosty,

p.s.--that's a fairly common malware problem. Your AV program does not pick it up because such programs work on definition files that look for specific files...this malware program has random named files, thus, the AV program cannot find it.

Actually, what specifically do you want me to do to clean it up?

I've been to the malware part and posted all my stuff and he gave me a few suggestions which I followed, they didnt work so he told me to post here.

If it's a fairly common problem what would you do to get rid of it?

Sorry to be a pain in the arse but its taking over my life! LOL

This should get rid of the Dr. Watson problem:

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Option->View and check 'Show hidden files and folders' and uncheck 'Hide protected operating system files'. Go to your c: drive. Right click on the boot.ini file and go to Properties. Then double click on the boot.ini file to open it. Change the line that says /NoExecute=OptIn and change it to /NoExecute=AlwaysOff. Now save the file and close it.

start > run,, type

eventvwr.msc
<enter>

Look under APPLICATIONS and SYSTEM for any RED Xs that occured at the time the Debugger showed up. Double click the event, and cut and paste the results into your next post.
