My cpu is pentium 4 3.0 ghz socket 478
i have the stock heatsink and fan.
I am just a bit concerned about my cpu temperature
Idle is 45C -47C
Load is 50C-58C
the fan is usually spining at 2000 rpm

I have an Antec Sonata II case with 1 120mm case fan..

So is my cpu temp too high? or is it normal?

Hi there

For a Pentium IV, this temperature doesn't seem particularly high to me. The only observation I would make is that the CPU fan speed seems a little on the low side, assuming that this is the fastest it spins at. You often find with P4s however that the cpu fan speed will vary at times anyway.

If it starts pushing 65 and over under idle conditions, then its time to get concerned.
If it's going over 75, you have a real issue with that setup that needs investigation ASAP.

As you're currently hovering around 46 degrees idle, I see no reason to be concerned at this time.

If it hits above 60 under load then you need to take measures to get it cooler to help preserve the cpu
