Lite-On DVD-RW Problems

I just installed KOTOR2 on my comp and after the first couple plays it began having trouble reading the disk. I can get it to work but it takes a few dozen tries before the drive reads the disk. This is the only game I have this problem with and there's no problem with audio CDs. The day before installing KOTOR2 I updated DirectX, might that be the reason for my problems? I've run Microsoft update since installing KOTOR to no avail. Any imput would be greatly appreaciated.

You can look for a firmware update for the drive on the Lite-On site

Firmware updates are irreversible so make sure you select the correct update for your drive
