Hey just a little problem here, not exactly a networking guru so this should be easy for those of you that are...

I have a laptop which interchanges from being on a dial-up connection at home to being on a LAN network at work. What is the best way to set this up so the network automatically changes without adjusting the settings?

I have set in internet options > connections to "Dial when ever a network connection is not present" but at home the dial up does no connect unless it is set back to "always dial my default connection" (default being dial-up)

Is this just the way it is or is there something i should configure??

Are you using AOL by any chance? If so then you will have to start AOL first to dial into your connection before you can use IE. I'm not sure if this is your exact problem, but I think that this will help. So leave the "Dial whenever a network connection is not present" selected and when you plug into your connection at home then you must start your AOL browser or whichever you use to dial in and then you can open IE or any other browser, if you don't want to have to do it like that then you have to set it to "Always Dial my Default Connection". I don't really know of any other way, let me know if this helps you.
