Sony S460 Memory Install
Just purchased 2gig of ram from Crucial, why I don't know, I guess because It is the max ram i can install. The ram will come in 2 pieces, 2x1gig.

Can anyone tell me step by step how to install? I did a search, and found nothing on how to install. Crucial also did not have detailed instructions.

Do you guys recommend taking it to a computer shop to install, or is it an easy install? Any help would be appreciated!

P.S. I am a computer newbie, but I have good common sense.

Thanks,
-Bob

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. Common sense is really all you need, along with proper instructions. Sadly, Sony didn't even supply a manual for this computer, nor did they supply a recovery cd, correct? That is what I found in a google search. Good news is that you can make your own recover cd and you can download a manual from Sony. Go to http://esupport.sony...l?mdl=Sony S460 and find the correct one for your model. I would suggest, if you have not already done so that you make yourself a recovery cd (before you start messing around inside of the computer). The manual should tell you how to make the recover cd. I looked at one of the manuals on line, it does have instructions for changing/adding memory.
