Can anyone tell me how to write zero's to the drive on my daughters Sony Vaio?? She purchased it used (dumb) and the previous owner partititioned the hard drive, eating up too much memory. I just want to start over, remove the partition and re-install windows. When I went to the bios screen, I found there is not an option to write zero's to drive. Can someone help me out here, please. I'm completely lost at this point. :tazz:

You can either use the hard drive manufacturer's set up utility or dban

http://dban.sourceforge.net/

When you get to installing XP then check the format is creating a RAW1 partition on C

If it is any different, press the reset button to restart, delete the existing partition, (type D - press enter - type L - press enter)
