I was given a Sony Vaio Notebook FXA259, and sometimes it will start up then shut off within 15 minutes. Once that happens, it will turn on but the screen stays black and only the green light indicator that means it's "on" will be on, but within a few minutes (2 or 3) it shuts off. When I plug it to an outlet, it appears to overhead too. This is an older notebook and it was given to me for free. It is worth it to have it checked out and perhaps repaired, or am I spinning my wheels and might waste money?
