Subtitles with Real Alternative

I've got a video with subtitles in .rm format.

When I open it with real alternative and load the subtitles (.srt format), they just don't show. In the options it says to set the video renderer to DirectX 7 or 9 to get subtitles with realplayer video. But neither of them seem to make any difference.

Anyone know anything about this stuff?
