iTunes - Ripping a Mixed CD?

Asking on behalf of a frustrated friend here...

He uses Itunes and has an Ipod. When he rips a mixed cd (one continuous play of audio) Itunes seperates it into individual tracks.

Any of you know a way to rip a mix cd so it rips as one continuous stream of music, rather than splitting it into tracks so you have an annoying gap in between each...

Thanks in advance (as usual).
