Hi - I've spent three nights looking at other peoples posts trying to undo the damage done by my lovely kids to this machine. Have got rid of a lot of rubbish but can't shift tmpf01.exe or mszx23.exe. Also having trouble turning on the firewall in internet explorer. would be grateful for help
thanks

Canned reply: Please Click here!, and follow the recommendations in the guide.

If you're still having trouble, We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool, Hijack This. Follow the instructions in step five of this guide, and post your log as a new topic in the Hijack This forum. It will get a better response there from the people most qualified to analyze logs.

Most of what Hijack This lists lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Thanks. I've been through everyone else's hijack logs already and i can't get the pc to load in safe mode (VGA mode not supported says my screen) so i can't delete these files before they load. I've decided to start life over and format my hard disk. Please let me know what I need to watch out for. I have made backups of a bunch of jpgs and doc files that people want to keep. I intend to stick an old Dos system disk in the A drive and then do a format c: and d: command. Will this work do you think and will it then allow me to re-install windows xp without all these evil bugs and virus.
Thanks for any advice
