christ our family comp is in trouble, recently started it up and it had for some reason activated all the start up processes which i had turned off with msconfig, so after de-activating them again and running 2 spyware scans and a virus scan (which found quite a lot) the computer was restarted. when it started up no task bar, no icon, no shortcuts just the background picture and only able to get the control panel up and run things from typing in commands!!!
we did u se system restore and it worked until it was restarted twice over and the whole process started again, however this time there was no systme restore point to revert back too!!

so far have tried:
#spyware, virus scans,
#creating new user accounts
#starting in safe mode
.......but all to no avail!!

have just found surf side kick 3 in my program files, cant delete it, and have researched it a bit and it seems like a right [bleep] that i wont be gettin rid of soon. any connection??

help greatly appreciated!!!!

Please go to the malware forum in my signature and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
