A week after doing the Windows Security Update CD, my homepage was switched to the Windows Update website. I had already downloaded all the critical updates, but Microsoft still changed my homepage. What could be changing my homepage?

I've received an update CD, but haven't installed it on any systems yet. You HJT log looks okay. Have you tried changing your homepage? If so, does it always return to Windows Update?

P.S. Microsoft hijacking homepages... that's all we need <_<

Yes, I could change it back. The Update CD is very cool and informative. It includes a free year of EX Armour LE Anti-Virus and Firewall for those who need it. The update cd also includes SP1, DirectX 9, and Windows Media Player 9 for those who don't have them already, not to mention the security update roll up, very cool. You'll like it <_<.

One downside though is that they try to throw automatic updates in your face. I mean the really try to get you to turn on automatic updates. But that's not much, Microsoft will be really doing that with SP2 :D!

Update:

It isn't a coincidence, Microsoft did change my homepage without my consent,' this time on my secondary system, exactly after one week after running the Windows Security Update CD :D! Coincidence? No. Bad, Microsoft, bad :D. They have gone a little too far to protect their users, by invading their privacy! Microsoft's first browser hijack <_<.

I saw a thing on The Screen Savers where they did a registry edit to prevent anyone from changing your homepage. Maybe that would help?

See if that helps.
