Recently I have had MANY pop-ups and my web browsers will often get redirected to pop-ups. I've used a bunch of things that were supposed to be anti-spyware... and many of them said something about ClkOptimizer so I don't know if that's what it is or now.

I've done the Preperation, Step One, the Ewido thing in Step Two, Updated, and rebooted and I'm still getting the pop-ups.

Also, I usually use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. I'm not sure if that makes a difference, but, yeah.

Hello MindlessOreO,

Please read my instructions carefully before proceeding. If you have questions, ask them now before you begin. You may want to print these instructions out or save them to Notepad for reference, as they require you to reboot your computer into SAFE mode, during which you will not have access to the internet.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
  • This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
  • After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
  • Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
  • You will first be presented with a warning.
    It should look like this

    VundoFix V2.15 by Atri
By using VundoFix you agree that you are doing so at your own risk
    Press enter to continue....

  • At this point press enter one time.
  • Next you will see:

Please Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff
    and then press enter:

  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
    • C:\WINNT\System32\mllmj.dll

  • Press Enter to continue with the fix.
  • Next you will see:

Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum
    staff then press enter:

  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):C:\WINNT\System32\jmllm.*
This will be the vundo filename spelt backwards. For example, if the vundo dll was vundo.dll you would enter odnuv.*
  • Press Enter to continue with the fix.
  • The fix will run then HijackThis will open, if it does not open automatically please open it manually.
  • In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = about:blank
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {EA32FB3B-21C9-42cc-B8EF-01A9B28EDB0D} - C:\WINNT\system32\mllmj.dll
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SQInstall] C:\Program Files\STC\SQ_3394_3222.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Msn Messenger Service] msnmsg.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BlockChecker] C:\Program Files\Block Checker\block-checker.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hsxuv] C:\WINNT\hsxuv.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Poqwmd] C:\Program Files\Wqku\Eoxljf.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Msn Messenger Service] msnmsg.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [Msn Messenger Service] msnmsg.exe
    O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://207.188.7.150...ip/RdxIE601.cab
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: mllmj - C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\mllmj.dll
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: Themes - C:\WINNT\system32\j86m0ij1e8o.dll
    O23 - Service: PictureTaker - Unknown owner - c:\fixit\pt\PCTKRNT.SYS (file missing)
    O23 - Service: Service 8 (Service Filter) - Unknown owner - C:\WINNT\smncs.exe (file missing)
  • After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis.
  • Press enter to exit the program then manually reboot your computer.
  • Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.
Download and install CleanUp!

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files
  • Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and save them to a Notepad file.

You have the latest version of VX2. Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe
http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

if you receive, while running option #1, an error similar like: ''C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe,
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the application.."...then please use option 5 or the web page link in the l2mfix folder to solve this error condition. do not run the fix portion without fixing this first.

Please paste the l2mfix log, the Panda Activescan log, and the vundofix.txt log as well as a fresh HijackThis log in this thread for review.

Regards,
Matt

Umm... I did all of that up to the Active Scan and
O20 - Winlogon Notify: mllmj - C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\mllmj.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Themes - C:\WINNT\system32\j86m0ij1e8o.dll
weren't in the HijackThis log to fix.
I'm still getting redirected and all the pop-ups. And when I try to do the Active Scan thing when I click "Scan Now" the browser just closes...

So do you want me to go ahead and post another HiJackThis Log?

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter. It will process then start. Your desktop and icons will disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, it will be ready for a reboot. Press any key to reboot. After the reboot notepad will open with a log. Save the log to your desktop so that you can post it back here later.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!
If after the reboot the log does not open double click on it in the l2mfix folder.
  • Please reboot your computer into Safe Mode.

    • C:\WINNT\System32\ssqrp.dll

  • Press Enter to continue with the fix.
  • Next you will see:

Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum
    staff then press enter:

  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):C:\WINNT\System32\prqss.*
This will be the vundo filename spelt backwards. For example, if the vundo dll was vundo.dll you would enter odnuv.*
  • Press Enter to continue with the fix.
  • The fix will run then HijackThis will open, if it does not open automatically please open it manually.
  • In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:O2 - BHO: ATLDistrib Object - {2353FCBC-012D-487B-8BF3-865C0929FBEB} - C:\WINNT\system32\ssqrp.dll
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: ssqrp - C:\WINNT\system32\ssqrp.dll
  • After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis.
  • Press enter to exit the program then manually reboot your computer.
  • Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.
Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files
  • Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please try this online virus scan again: ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic as well as the l2mfix log.

Regards,
Matt

The Active Scan still won't work. It's not supported with Firefox and on Internet Explorer it just closes when I click scan now. But so far no pop-ups.

Yes, but it started acting really weird. Like all the icons disapeared and it wouldn't get out of safe mode and kept restarting then finally went normal...

Also it looks like the l2mfix log was cut off. Please go to the l2mfix folder and post the entire log.

I just checked and that's all that it gave me. :-/

Thanks a lot for your help by the way.

Should I do the l2mfix again, too or just the Vundo?
