Hoping to get some help with my DSL setup with the Westell 6100.

I've been using the WRT54G Linksys router for several years now and have a couple of them on hand. I keep things pretty basic - DHCP on, wireless security, and that's about it. I'm trying to get my DSL modem to work in bridge mode and allow my WRT to do all the network setup - i.e. Phone jack to 6100 to WRT to rest of my network (wireless and wired).

No matter what I do I can't get an IP or DNS Gateway from Verizon. If I connect my PC in this configuration - no IP. If the modem is in DHCP mode then it will provide an IP to the router (192.168.1.47) but seems to be a conflict between routers. With my cable modem I don't have any problems. BTW, I've tried 2 different WRT's and both have the same issue.

Setup
For the WRT54G I've put the settings back to factory default (DHCP on, etc...).

Here's the settings of the 6100:
- VC configuration: Protocol = Bridge, Mode = Bridge
- DHCP: Off

Looked through the 6100 spec and they don't discuss optional connections other than USB direct connection.

Verizon has provided limited to NO support and keep telling me to go to Linksys. Linksys tried to use PPoE which is not enabled for my DSL account (apparently, as per Verizon) - needless to say it doesn't work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

hi

First connect computer to router and login to web interface of router and change the lan ip of router as 192.168.10.1 with start ip as 192.168.10.2 & end ip as 192.168.10.51.Then connect modem to router and check for the ip in computer and try logging in to router using the new ip and configure the router.

Just wanted to share information on getting the Westell 6100 Modem and Linksys WRT54G router set up for Verizon DSL. First item to point out is I discovered Verizon uses two different Protocols if you previously were a GTE customer you will have the DHCP protocol and if you previously were a BA customer you will have a PPPoE protocol. I found the links on how to set the modem up so it will work with your router and tried the one for the DHCP which worked like a dream. If you use the DHCP instructions when you are ready to configure the router you will need to key in the Host Name which is verizon.net and the Domain Name which is myhome.westell.com. If you need help setting this up use the links below.

For DHCP Setup go to http://members.veriz...s08lyg/6100.htm

For PPPoE Setup go to http://netservices.v....jsp?case=c6445
