I appear to be one more of many people who have had problems with oinadserver (which morphs into network.searchhound). Can you help me remove it from my computer? I've tried all the malware removers you've recommended (except for CWShredder and Cleanup!); none have prevented these annoying popups from returning. Here's the HJT log:

HI :tazz:

Please open Notepad, and copy/paste the code in the box below into a new text file(notepad). Save it as FindFile.bat and save it on your Desktop.

dir C:\WINDOWS\system32\l?gonui.exe /a h > files.txt
notepad files.txt

Locate FindFile.bat on your Desktop and double-click on it. It will open Notepad with some text in it. Please post the text here along with a new HiJackThis log.

The annoying malware seems to have been removed. Thanks a whole bunch. I found two C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\logonui.exe files, one created Jan 31, 2004 (514,560 bytes) and a second created on Aug 31, 2005 (401,108 bytes). Since the creation date of the second didn't exactly match the Aug 30, 2005 date you mentioned, I was hesitant to remove it. Should I? And finally, where did the oinadserver/searchhound malware come from? What's the most probable way it got in? And how can I keep it from returning?

Again, thanks for your time in helping me remove this junk and clean up my computer.

No problem . smart move when dealing with a valid file You can try to delete it in normal mode now since it doesn't appear to be running. Not sure why the dates dont match. The one from 2005 is bad

08/30/2005 09:39 AM 401,408 l?gonui.exe ---- bad one

08/04/2004 12:56 AM 514,560 logonui.exe ----- good one

Let me know how it goes

I deleted the 8/31/2005 file with no apparant ill effects. Meanwhile, the oinadserver/searchhound pop-ups have not reappeared, so it looks like we've fixed that problem. And CleanUp! removed over 48,000 files and freed up 4,2GB of memory!! Incredible (assuming their numbers are correct). I think we can consider this problem resolved. Thanks again.
