A friend suggested I use a fireall when browsing on the net. I had a look at the various post on this site and decided to go with Kerio. The problem that I have is that once I downloaded Kerio I could not connect anymore. It seems somehow to redirect the call in number from my normal internet operator to some other number. Obviously to place this post I had to uninstall Kerio to get back on line. Is my set up wrong. as anyone encountered a similar problem and how can i solve this
Thanks for your help

No, it is free but look out for the option to load the pro trial during the install, once you select zone alarm free during install it will always load this and then remain free, it also has updates, you enter an e-mail address for this, the news updates are optional. Select the defaults during set up, though anonymous usage is optional. After it installs you will need to start it from all programmes then double click the taskbar icon, click preferences on the overview tab to tick load zone alarm when windows starts, when you close this window, there is an option to not bother to tell you it is running in the taskbar, tick that. The taskbar icon will show ZA when the connection is idle and change to a red and green meter when the connection is in use. It will do this when checking mail or a programme such as Microsoft anti spyware is updating

When programmes run for the first time it will give you the option to allow or deny and a box to tick to remember the decision. Click allow or deny without using the remember option until you are sure of a programme, but some like IE and the e-mail programmes are obvious

If you have not got an antivirus programme you can get one here

http://www.filehippo...ware/antivirus/

AVG Free works well with Zone Alarm, same thing during install, keep selecting the free version

For anti spyware programmes

http://www.filehippo...re/antispyware/

You can use 1, 5, 7 and 8 with XP

All will need updating before you run them, and then you will need to check manually for updates, though most are listed here when available
