hot swapping a SATA drive

I need help in understanding how to hotswap my Western digital drive. it is a 200 gig 7200rpm drive. my system that has windows 64 sees it as a removable drive but my winxp pro 32 bit system does not. i need to be able to share files between these systems securely which is why I don't really want to go through the network and i also don't want to shut down my xp pro system everytime I want to pull out the drive. i would appreciate any info i can get. here are my system specs.

-Main System-
intel S775 M/B D945PSN intel chipset
intel 820 2.8 ghz dual core proc
6600GT PCI-E video Card 128 DDR 3 memory
2 - 1 gig sticks of kingston DDR2 533 ram
Western digital 160gig 7200rpm 8mb cache IDE drive(primary)
Western digital 200gig 7200rpm SATA drive (on sata 1 port) this is the one I wwant to swap
485 WATT enermax power supply
16X a-open DVD burner
windows XP Pro sp2

-Secondary System-
EVGA S939 SLi M/B nForce 4 chipset
AMD athalon 64 3500+
6200 PCI-E video Card 128 DDR memory
2 - 1 gig sticks of kingston DDR2 533 ram
Western digital 120gig 7200rpm 8mb cache IDE drive(primary)
Western digital 200gig 7200rpm SATA drive (on sata 1 port)same as above
380 WATT allied power supply
16X a-open DVD burner
windows XP Pro x64 edition

please help.
