Can anybody help me please

I have followed You Must Read This Before Posting A Hijackthis Log, Required steps before posting your log

Click start then run, type sfc /scannow then press enter to replace the system files, you need the XP CD.

System File Check will show an on screen blue progress bar, reboot when the bar goes

Hello crocman...

You might check to see if the Plug and Play Service is started before running the System File Checker as Keith has suggested. Many times, this is the cause of this issue. If you find the PNP Service set correctly, SFC should fix things up for you.

Click Start, click Run, and type services.msc, and then click "OK".
Double-click "Plug and Play" in the list. (If you receive a Configuration Manager message, click "OK".)
In the Startup Type list, click "Automatic", and then click "OK". Close Services.

Restart the computer and let us know if this resolves the issue.

Crocman, you are PROBABLY infected by Apropos People on Page malware...

Please go to the malware forum, follow the instructions at the top and then after doing so, post there with the subject: Infected by Apropos?

They will know what to do to get you fixed up

Please go here:

Malware Removal Guide

Run all the programmes as advised then post a current Hijack This Log in a new topic in the Malware Forum

For the purpose of accurate malware analysis, Hijack This Logs are only dealt with in the Malware Forum. Posting them anywhere else will result in a delayed response

If you are unable to run any of the programmes, ask for advice in the Malware Forum

You can use these to repair XP

Possibly, you will need to boot the PC and keep tapping the delete key until the PC enters set up. Change the boot order to CD ROM Drive then hard drive, press F10 then press enter, type Y then press enter and as it reboots, look for press any key to load from CD, press enter

XP Repair Install

Or here if you are unable to run XP Repair Install

Alternative XP Repair Install Method

Use Windows Installation CD to repair the current installation, from the list, which uses a slightly different method

Windows XP repair feature won't delete your data, installed programs, personal information, or settings. It just repairs the operating system

After running XP Repair you will need to install all Windows Updates

Microsoft Update

Hi Keith

Tried the repair install and got 3 quarters of the way through and pc froze so i tried again and everytime it gets to the end a blue screen comes up with error messages something like " if you have not seen this screen before restart your pc but if you have seen it contact your supplier or administrator.

Just had to boot up with a different hard drive

Hi crocman...

Sounds like you need to take Ownership of the files.

Is this a Dell computer?
