my ipod refuses videos ive done everything thats been said?

ive done every single thing said in every tutorial converted files blah blah blah but when i update my ipod it updates songs an all but not videos it always says and i quote "the ipod cannot be updated. the disk could not be read from or written to." and i dont even have a disk in all the files are in the video part in my i tunes i can drag them in and watch them there just cant get them on the ipod. someone please please please tell me what is wrong with it because i am goin insaneeeeeeee.
