I followed the steps in your excellent New Users tutorial, and I believe it got rid of the various types of malware on my computer. Would someone have the time to check this Hijack This log I've made (after everything seemed to be working again) to see if you folks see anything of concern in it (like something one of the anti-malware programs missed?
BTW, the symptoms which originally alerted me to a problem was that a profusion of popup windows appeared on my screen while web surfing, locking up the computer. I rebooted, and my icons and taskbar disappeared! After much experimentation, I found I could boot into Safe Mode and run AdAware and Spybot. I also was able to run them, and Norton AV by dint of some extremely quick clicking on my desktop during boots in normal mode, before the icons disappeared! Anyway, using the resources listed in your tutorial, I think everything is OK now--my desktop is back to the way it should be. However, just to be prudent, if someone could check the Hijack This log (below) for me, I would be extremely grateful. Thanks in advance for all your good work!
