I am undergoing a technical crises as mentioned above.

Let me walk you through the worst brief momments.

-talking on the phone to a friend who just uploaded a few files through soulseek. Its a file sharing program, and he was sending me pictures of a wedding... so i clicked on the folder, kept talking on the phone, and wondered why it was taking so long for the folder to open...

So then it happens,

The system goes blue, saying that it is going to reboot...

it reboots, the the black screen says, insert master boot disc...

so then i power off, power back on, and then nothing. it won't even turn on...

I know i have to take the machine to a specialist now, but i am wondering what happened and what i can do to make sure this never happens again,

also, what is my chance that i'll be able to recover my files?

The computer is two years old, and has never had any problems like this before...

thanks for a bit of advice and comfort in this time of technological distress
