If it is possible, how may I set up a personal router within my dormroom,
which would connect to my school network? I have set up routers plenty of times,
but due to the network conditions at school, i'm wondering if this is possible to "piggy-back"
another router within my dormroom off the school network.

You're looking at a wireless access point/relay type thing. Depending on how the school network is set up, this may not be possible.

i would contact your school's I.S. department...they may have rules against setting up these kinds of connections within the school network...
