Windows Update problems

I had the windows atuomatic update symbol appear on the lower right hand toolbar last night. I ran the updater and it said that it installed succesfully. Now when we open Outlook Express i get the following error

Unable to open address book - the address book may not be installed properly

I had a similar issue before and reverse the issue with system restore. What is causing this. I really do not want to lose all the contact info in the address book
