computer doesn't have a desktop anymore?

i think my explorer is corrupt and that might be the problem. i stil havent been able to find my product key but i had someone look at it. he tried different discs and their codes and he thinks that the explorer program is corrupt.

is there anywhere that i can download the explorer program to fix it?

but if i do get my product key code and i am able to reinstall xp, do you think it will fix the corrupt explorer?
