Start -> Control Panel -> Network and Internet Connections -> Network Connections -> Right-click on Local Area Connection -> Properties -> Advanced Tab -> Click Settings in the Windows Firewall Section -> Execptions -> Add Port

Enter the Name for the execption(something dealing with what ever the application is). In the Port Number section, type in the port number(7171 for you). Click the Change Scope and click the Custom List button. In the box, type 127.0.0.1. Click OK, and OK again. Now this should allow the application access the computer that you did this to. Hope that it helps, and post back either way.

Hi,

When I highlight the Local Area Connection this is on it :

Local Area Connection
LAN or High Speed Internet

Network Cable Unplugged

Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI
Fast Ethernet NIC

Is that a Router ^.^?

Plus when I try and forward a Port It keeps saying Page cannot be Displayed.

Please Help!!

No that is not the router, but a NIC(Network Interface Card). A router is something that sits in the middle of the modem and the computers. The computers plug into the router, and the router plugs into the modem. Check the network cable at both the computer and at the modem, making sure that its plug in(if so unplug and replug the cable at both ends). Hope that this helps.

Hard to tell, it looks like a AC adapter. Place some kind of light near the object and repost the pic.

On the bottom is the cable modem, next the router, and a finally a switch. All of the hardware is Linksys. Look for something like this around the computer. You will only find a modem, and the easiest way to find it is to find the network cable from the back of the computer and follow it back to the device that it is pluged into. Post a pic of it. If you want to hook up a router, you can buy any brand, but I have had never a problem with either Linksys, and Netgear.
