My spacebar only works if shift is pressed at the same time.

It happened suddenly after no obvious trigger. I have tested alternative keyboards and the same problem occurs.

Any help or advice would be very gratefully accepted.

Yeah I did that and no luck but then it suddenly just started working again last night. Could possibly be something to do with Counter-Strike:Source as it was while I was playing that it fixed itself. Another unexplained computer mystery. Thanks for the response

i'm not familiar with playing counterstrike..a.s i don't have time for the stuff..but...within the game...is there any special command linked with the space bar?

devmgmt.msc
<enter>


go to keyboards, right click, uninstall, reboot.

Windows will reinstall the keyboard. Fix?

sorry everyone, turns out it was a macro connected to skype internet telephone. i had activated space bar as the answer key assuming it would only work when its ringing. it doesn't. it hijacks the space bar! problem solved
